• Subject: This painting – surreal because of the proportions of the protagonists and the defined contours of the silhouettes – wants to convey warmth and a sense of brotherhood. In the foreground, two sisters enjoy the warmth of the breeze in the late summer sunset. The two sisters are called Russia and Ukraine. Russia, on the left, has red and blue leaves in her hair and wears a white shirt. Ukraine, on the right, has big, deep blue eyes and a sunflower in her hair. The landscape is desert-like, soft, blurred and welcomes the two beautiful girls in a peaceful, almost timeless atmosphere.
